they started just falling -an- thirty thousand feet
and the pilot’s on the microphone and he’s saying,
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Oh My God, I’m Sorry”
and apologizing and she looks at the man and she–and she says,
“Where are we going?” and he looks at her and he says,
“We’re going to a party, it–it’s a birthday party.
It’s your birthday party, happy birthday darling.
We love you very, very, very, very, very, very, very much.”
Bright eyes – At the bottom of everything.
we’re falling, 35,000 miles through the sky, ‘i’m sorry, i’m so sorry’ my voice rings through the intercom but no one is listening, no one will remember.
i’m sorry, i’m sorry. Even i’m not hearing my own voice, echoing around the cockpit bouncing off disaster. we’re frozen in time plummeting to our certain death, this feels like a crazy ride with the beautiful blue sea beneath us, some sort of trickery that if I close my eyes tight enough it will change, but i’m not strapped in, there is no safety harness and I must go, but I tried, dear god I tried.
we’re not dying, we’re going on an adventure, one which will end immediately or go on for eternity, perhaps we will swim with the fish at the bottom of the ocean, or our bodies will float to land and we shall be found with forgotten treasures that one day meant the world to someone.
and they will remember this day forever, the day we fell through thin air, but they will not remember us, we will become yet another lost myth, hiding on the sea floor, maybe we’ll find Atlantis
I tried, dear god I tried, I’m sorry, so sorry.
…
We’re falling, falling, falling.
but we are still in the sky, next to me a girl cries, but she is young and riddled with fear and naivety, she is yet to understand the concepts of the painful truth.
and as we fall through the air, we are a time capsule, each of our emotions, fear, stories and beliefs will be frozen in time when we hit that water, and maybe we’ll be discovered, and we are each scared, but I am a little old lady now, I have told all my stories, I have left my legacy, and I am ready to go.
what an exciting way to go,
I’m falling, falling, flying, flying, flying home.
